Now, normally we aren’t up before the sun, but for anepic adventurelike this we’ll make an exception! We met our guides / the owners ofSunnyday Scoot,Amy and Mike in Burbank. They gave us acrash coursein driving and we were off toexplore LA!
No need to worry! They are extremely easy to operate and the most fun you will ever have driving around LA ~ We promise!!
Our Tour started with a moonlitride through Burbank up to the Griffith Observatory. We have been to Griffith 1,000 times, but have never made it up there for a daybreak like this! It was a bit chilly out so if you choose thistourmake sure to wear layers. Amy and Mike were well prepared and had the most comfortable blanket for us to cuddle up with on our ride!!
When we started out on our excursion we immediately realized this was something special! There was hardly anyone on the road yet because it was so early, but we already couldn’t stop smiling!
We got to the Observatory and the sun just started to peak out! It was extremely empty up there except for a few early bird joggers and hikers.
If you know anything about LA you know that the observatory is never empty, so you can say we were pretty stoked! We pulled up right in front and set out to watch the sunrise over this alluring metropolis.
We went walking around the left of the building to catch the bestviews of sunrise. When we rounded the back of theobservatory, Mike had set up the most darlingbreakfast waiting just for us! Equipped with orange juice, yogurts and some of the best pastries you have ever tried in your life!!
If you’ve been to LA and haven’t triedPorto’s, have you really ever been to LA?
Needless to say we devoured our delicious goodies as we stared out at the morning sky and the Hollywood Sign. Mellow blues, oranges and pinks blurred together in a silver mist to create the most gorgeous scene. The fires had just hit Los Angeles at the time of our tour, but even when the world was drowning in grief and hardship, the sky remained beautiful.
Sunlight filled the sky, pure scattered light; its hue ambitiously illuminating each crevice of the land and we soaked it all up. When we booked our tour with Sunnyday Scoot we thought it was just going to be a fun ride around town, but we have to admit; this was one of themostromantic things we have ever done in LA!!
We got back into our scoot and hit the road once again! Only this time, people were up and off to work. We laughed, grinned and couldn’t help but feel like we were in the worlds smallest parade! Everyone did double takes and waved at us as we passed by! These little scoots have the power to put a smile on anyones face – Even at 7am-
From riding around in theseridiculously fun scootswith the wind in your hair; To the stillness that surrounds you in the moment the sun rises up in front of your eyes. The whole experience wasenchantingandmagical. Amy and Mike do aremarkable jobat making you feel like you are just out withfriendsfor the day too! It’s true what they say! It’s the people we meet along life’s road that help us appreciate the journey!

SunnyDayScoot: Driving Tours of Griffith Park & Parties in Scooter Cars
6/20/15 – By Roberta B
I’m feeling pretty smug today. Not only did I take my kid on an outing in his hometown that thrilled him within an inch of his life; I also found an activity that was utterly and completely new to our LA team’s native Angeleno, Jackie Stansbury. You may have noticed a recurring theme in Jackie’s posts: unlike most LA parents I know, her childhood memories are actually all right here in the Southland. When she talks about a grunion run, she compares it to the one she did 40 years ago. In short, there’s nothing new under the LA sun for her. That is, until today, when she and I were invited to do some scootering under the sun in funny little vehicles that feel like a cross between a bumper car and Colonel Klink’s motorcycle. We took our kids on LA’s newest road adventure: SunnyDayScoots.
SunnyDayScoots are tiny, open-air cars that drive like motorcycles. They look like toy cars, but they do require a driver’s license. That means that a SunnyDayScoot outing requires an adult for every child—which doesn’t feel so much like a hardship as it does grown-ups having all the fun. The passenger seat is also a whole lot of fun, though, in these mini-convertibles. Imagine getting to ride Disneyland’s Autopia for a solid hour, without even waiting in line. Now imagine that the track you ride is mostly city streets in LA.
Our outing was an adventure ride, which can be booked any day of the week, at a variety of times. SunnyDayScoot also runs longer tours that cover classic LA destinations, like famous movie locations, the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, and Walt Disney’s favorite hangouts. These are generally scheduled early in the morning, when the scoots have less traffic to deal with. Adventure rides, which can be done at almost any time of day or even evening, spend less time on city streets and more time in Griffith Park, on public streets that tend to be a little quieter.
Although these cars look like toys, they are real vehicles and require an adult age 21+ with a driver’s license to drive them. The passenger can be a child but must be at least 7 years old. Our ride traveled at more than 40 miles per hour at several points, which feels pretty daredevilish when you’re the smallest thing on the road. Part of the fun, though, is how startled and entertained other drivers and pedestrians are as you go by; much honking and waving goes on. It’s like one long parade, with you as the star.
Our tour of the park was a real treat and included a stop to ride on the oldcarousel, which we found out is the fastest in town. It was one big speed junky dream date. We saw things in LA’s largest park we’d never previously noticed, before returning to our little depot in Glendale.
SunnyDayScoot’s owners are clearly having the ride of their lives and enjoying sharing it with everyone who will let them. They both escort every ride, covering front and back and offering protection at (literally) every turn. A maximum of four cars can go out together, which is a total of eight people.Birthday partiesare also an option; SunnyDayScoot can book a spot in Griffith Park for the main party and then take guests on rides a few at a time by turn.
Rides start at $65 per person and can be bookedonlineor by phone. Gift certificates are also available.
Come hop in these 2-seat minicars and explore LA in the most fun way possible! Ride by famous movie studios, see The Hollywood Sign, Griffith Observatory, explore an abandoned zoo, step inside Walt Disney’s Barn, and so much more!
Meeting locations vary but are all north of Griffith Park within minutes of Universal Studios, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, ABC, NBC, Warner Bros Studios, Bob’s Big Boy, and Walt Disney Studios.

Before starting your adventure, you will be required to sign a waiver in order to participate. Minors must have a legal parent/guardian present who can sign the waiver for them.
We are in LA, so it’s almost always a sunny day at Sunnyday Scoot!! On the rare occasion that it is expected to rain, we may have to cancel. If this is the case, we will call, email, or text you at least one hour prior to your start time. That is why it is very important for your contact information to be accurate and up-to-date. If we cancel due to weather, we will try our best to reschedule with you. When rescheduling is not possible, you have the option of a gift card or a full refund.
We understand that life happens and sometimes you might need to cancel your tour after you have scheduled it. If you need to cancel, we offer a full refund if you notify us at least 7 days prior to your tour date. Please call us directly at 818-687-2668 or email us at [email protected] to reschedule or cancel.
We reserve the right to refuse service, and if such occurs, no refund will be given. Some examples of why we might have to refuse service would be showing up under the influence of drugs or alcohol, neither participant having a valid drivers license, or driving unsafe or irresponsibly.
