Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Sunny Day Scoot is the only place in Los Angeles that you can get the thrill of riding in our unique mini-cars, sit next to the person you most enjoy, trade off driving throughout, and of course see some of the top sights in LA!

We offer a variety of top-rated activities that range in length from one to three hours of fun! It’s a completely new way to see the city and a great opportunity to grab life by the throttle and say “Today I am going to smile, laugh, and have an adventure!” We turn the standard activity of driving into a fun and joyful adventure. Say goodbye to traffic, and hello to wind in your hair. No more honking horns from angry road warriors, our mini-cars get happy beeps from smiling faces. Join us on the ride as we make driving fun again!

Want to know what gets our engines revving? We love how excited people get when they see our mini-cars. We love when locals learn things that they never knew about their own city. We love when our guests smile from ear to ear the entire time! We are super popular with visitors and tourists, but we also stand out as a popular activity in LA for locals as well.

As a company, our goal is always to go above and beyond expectations. Our guides are enthusiastic, funny, and very personable. People have come from all over the world and raved about their fantastic scooting adventure. Our company is extremely proud of and very humbled by the overwhelmingly great response we have gotten from the community.

We wanted to share some of our recent achievements. Sunny Day Scoot was recently featured on the TV show LA Unscripted by KTLA5 as a must do LA activity and on the TV Show Eye on LA by ABC7 as one of the most fun and unique ways to experience Los Angeles. We have been awarded “Best Local Tours Los Angeles” by Expertise.com for the past 5 consecutive years in a row (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, & 2017). Sunny Day Scoot also received the 2019-2021 LUX Life Travel & Tourism Award for Customer Service Excellence as well as Best Tour & Outdoor Activities Provider in California.

We have been featured as a “Favorite Summer Pick” in LA Magazine’s Endless Summer Issue and we were featured in the Los Angeles Times for our fun activity. Furthermore, we have been featured in numerous travel blogs, YouTube channels, and podcasts including Ask a Concierge, First Date LA, The LA Couple, Mommy Poppins, and LifeHacksLA; just to name a few. On a daily basis, what is really priceless to us are the 5-Star Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews from our guests that illustrate in detail what they loved about their scooting experience.

These reviews and achievements remind us why we do what we do and why we love it so much! We appreciate all the positivity that has come our way.

As for our journey; no road in life is paved with roses and candy bars. We have faced the challenge of creating something brand new and original in LA, of all places, which is already such a fun and cutting edge city. On top of that challenge, we decided to take something that can be a hurdle for Angelenos, driving in LA, and we turned it back into something to enjoy and be excited about again!

The biggest lesson we have learned along the way is that life is short so you should ENJOY THE RIDE! The best way to do that is to pack as much of what makes you smile into each day. Though the storms will come in life, everything passes. If you can spend your time doing something that brings you happiness, with people who make you feel good, then you can weather any storm. That is what we have done by creating something so positive and fun, not only for our guests, but also for ourselves. That is why for us, every day is a Sunny Day!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Los Angeles is a vibrant bustling city with endless things to see and do. I am so proud to call LA my home so showing off this amazing town is very easy for me to do!! Below are a few of my favorite things to do when I have friends or family visiting. I think one of the best things about Los Angeles is the ability to be outside so often enjoying the sun.

LA is known for hiking and it is something that I personally enjoy very much. With so many trails and places to go, you could Ind yourself in nature for days. Some of my favorites hikes include hiking up to the Wisdom Tree, hiking the original Hollywoodland Stairs, hiking to Mt. Hollywood and Mt. Lee, and Eaton Canyon Falls where you get to admire a beautiful waterfall.

Since many of my visitors come from the east coast, they want their first stop in California to be the beach. Who doesn’t think of beaches when they visit Los Angeles? For a relaxed beach experience, I’d take my friend over to Manhattan Beach or up to Malibu, but for a more LA iconic beach day, we’re definitely headed over to Venice Beach. From the Venice Skate Park, that is credited as being the birthplace of modern skateboarding, to the famous Muscle Beach, where Arnold Schwarzenegger trained, Venice is filled with artistic people, shops, and entertainment that will surely give you that chill LA vibe.

When we want to get dressed up and head out for the night, two of my favorite LA venues, although very different from each other, are The Magic Castle and The Hollywood Bowl. As the Magic Castle boasts some of the worlds best magicians, is invite only, formal attire required, and no cameras are allowed inside, it creates a sense intimacy and LA exclusivity like no other. In stark contrast, The Hollywood Bowl is a live open music venue up in the Hollywood Hills. We’d get tickets to one of the shows, pack a picnic, and spend the night under the stars listening to music and being surrounded by thousands of other LA locals.

Before their visit comes to an end, no LA experience would be complete without seeing The Hollywood Sign and getting a picture in front of it. Of course, I’d want to take my friend there in the most fun way possible, on a Sunny Day Scoot Sunrise Tour. We would wake up early, hop in the adorable little mini-cars, and drive in the darkness under the moonlit sky up to the The Griffith Observatory. There we would be able to watch the beautiful sun rise over the sleeping city skyline and have breakfast overlooking The Hollywood Sign. It’s my all time favorite place in LA at sunrise. I love sharing this magical moment with my friends when they visit as well as other tourists and locals that join us on a Sunny Day Scoot Sunrise Tour. So the next time you are looking for an adventure, looking for the perfect gift , or someone you know is planning a trip to Los Angeles, don’t leave things to chance. Let Sunny Day Scoot be the experience that will become an amazing memory for life!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

First and foremost, this article wouldn’t be complete without recognizing my good friend Michael Hunter, the other founder of Sunny Day Scoot. When we set out to build this business, it was a simple idea of creating a fun, positive experience with the city of Los Angeles as a backdrop. It has grown to be one of the top Los Angeles must-do activities and I couldn’t be more thankful that Michael has joined me on this incredible adventure. Therefore, before I begin recognizing the special people in my own life, it is only fitting that Michael gives a shout out to some of the most important people in his life that have inspired him to believe in himself and make his dreams a reality.

Mike writes, “I want to thank my brother, Lou Hunter, who shows me constantly to see myself through where I am headed and not just where I have been. He taught me to be bold enough to ask for what you want in life; forge through any defeat so that you are still standing for the wins. He showed me how to be brave enough to put yourself in a room with people who you can learn from, and humble enough to do just that. My friend, Tony Previti, who taught me that you’re never ‘ready’ for anything in life, but if you are prepared for that fact then you can handle whatever comes. He also shows me that through humor and creativity you can take care of yourself, and give other people joy as well. My friend, Christine (Babydoll) Kean-Huynh, who taught me to live in the moment and not to place happiness in the future where it is out of reach. The friend whom I have known since kindergarten, Elena Perlin, who above all has showed me that this life is about genuinely caring and connecting with other people, and that contributing to their happiness can be such a powerful motivator for your own. So thank you all for your support, guidance, and inspiration.”

Similarly to Michael, I have been fortunate enough to have wonderful people support and encourage me on my journey. I will be forever grateful to everyone that has added positively to my life but there are a few special people that deserve recognition and a big heartfelt thank you.  My first shout out goes to my mom, Kate Adolf, for always believing in me. For showing me what unconditional love looks like. For fostering my passion for adventure, travel, and trying new things which has opened the door to many amazing experiences for me. For teaching me how to be open- minded, responsible, loving and to be accepting of all people. Mom, thank you for everything. To my brother, Tim Schindele, thank you for believing in your little sister. You have shown me by example that I can solve any problem in life, if I stay calm and grounded. Your home cooked meals are always appreciated, yummy, and make me feel loved. They remind me that what is really important in life is being together as a family and that the personal connections we make are so very important. To my sister-in-law, Jenn Schindele, for always cheering me on. For helping me discover that I deserved to get back up, go after my dreams, and that all things are possible! To my friends Christine Sharkey, Susanne Olsen, and Jessie DiLucia, your support, encouragement, and love is something I will cherish forever. Before I even truly knew myself and my potential, you saw a spark in me and showed me by example what true friendship really looks like. Thank you for always having my back, believing in me, and laughing with me through all of life’s ups and downs. To my children, Andrew and Zach, I love you both so very much. Life has dealt us a mixed hand but never forget that the odds will always be in our favor because we choose to play with kindness, love, and hope. Andrew, you have showed me that it’s important to not only have goals, but to go after what you believe in with everything you’ve got. Zach, hearing your voice and laughter brightens my day and gives me the strength to accomplish anything I set my mind to do. You have a talent for being funny which constantly reminds me to not take life too seriously, treasure the little moments, have fun, and be silly. Thank you both for joining me on many exciting adventures and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to show you what it looks like to turn dreams into reality!!! In addition to family and friends, Michael and I have met so many wonderful fellow business owners, both local and elsewhere, since starting Sunny Day Scoot.
Their kindness is always appreciated and networking has proven to be a great way to learn from others. One of our contacts that have since become really close friends and people we consider our mentors, are Terry and Fiona Smit. They run Go West Tours out of Melbourne, Australia. We want to send a special thank you to them for always inspiring us to continue to keep building, motivating us through the dips, laughing with us along the way, and reminding us that the sky is open and opportunities are limitless!
